- Geoff was diagnosed with RCC (Renal Cell Carcinoma...commonly known as Kidney Cancer) in March 2007 when he was 41 years old...our 4 kids were 9, 5,1 year and 9 months old (not exactly what we were expecting at this stage in our lives). His primary tumor was 2.5cm (tiny, yet Stage III, pT3a, Grade 3). To hopefully reduce the high risk of recurrence at this stage and grade, he did an adjuvant Clinical Trial (ECOG 2805) of either placebo/ Sutent/Nexavar. Side effects show he got 13 months of Sutent (3 cycles at 50mg and 6 cycles reduced to 37.5mg due to adverse side effects). As of May 2009 scans he thankfully has not had a recurrence. We continue to live, love and laugh each and every day to the fullest.
